An entry for Warrior
Wavertree Warrior has come out of his recent race at Lingfield, where he finished in third place, very well. Nick and Emma have both been riding him this week and report that he is as well as he has ever been. Earlier in the week he had a couple of huge bucks, kicks and squeals with Emma on board and she lost a stirrup and almost fell off him, they are both delighted with his well being at present.
Unfortunately, the handicapper felt that he had to raise Warrior 2lbs for his efforts.
Due to the lack of suitable races for him in this category he is now placed in a 'no mans land' where Nick's only options are to step him up in trip or run him out of the handicap in higher rated races. Nick has spoken to the handicapper and pleaded the case for an older horse who hasn't been in the winners enclosure for a long time. Nick was looking at a couple of (0-60) races in the near future and explained how difficult this raise had made it now for him to place Warrior. The handicapper appeared to be understanding and said he will revisit the situation if anything changes with the horses that finished in front of Warrior at Lingfield.
In the interim Nick has made an entry in the (0-65) Horizons Apprentice Handicap over 1m 1f at Wolverhampton on Friday 5th February at 5.05pm. There are 12 entries and the safety factor is 13 so all are guaranteed to run if declared.
