The latest on the girls
The latest report from Chris states: "All is well with the girls this morning after their trip to Yarmouth yesterday. Bounty will be scoped after having a trot on the Heath tomorrow to see if she has anything affecting her lungs".
This will be done as a precaution due to her blowing quite a lot after her race, where she had tired in the last furlong after travelling well initially. In addition Chris has had a couple of his other 2yo's scope dirty recently and therefore he just wants to have her checked out. The results should be known tomorrow and will be posted on the web-site and information line. Any information gleaned will also help Chris make his judgement as to whether or not she stays a mile at this stage.
Alan said afterwards that the Salisbury race may have taken more out of her than felt at the time and that it was hard work on the slow ground at Yarmouth. She will now get a handicap mark after her three runs and the plan is to give her a winter break to allow her to continue growing into her frame to enable her to come back stronger as a three year old next year.
Wavertree Princess came out of her race fine. She missed the break from the stalls slightly and was therefore settled in towards the rear of the pack, although they were all quite tightly packed and there wasn't too much between first and last in the early stages. Unfortunately when she tried to make her move half way through the race Alan had to snatch her up as the gap in front of her closed and she got squeezed between horses. Over 5 furlongs it is almost impossible to get back into things when this happens although she did manage to find her stride again and without being pushed too much she finished quite strongly passing three horses in the last few strides.
Chris intends to enter her for Nottingham on Wednesday 4th November and will keep an eye on her and the ground conditions over the next few days before deciding on declaration.
